What is a funeral plan?

A funeral plan allows you to pre-pay and choose the type of funeral that you want in advance. It provides protection from rising funeral costs and relieves your loved ones of the emotional worry and stress of arranging your funeral when the time comes.

What are the benefits of taking out a funeral plan?

By taking out a funeral plan with Assist you will give you and your loved ones peace of mind and protection from rising funeral costs. Your plan guarantees both the Funeral Director’s Fees and Services and Disbursements at no extra cost to you or your next of kin, Your plan also relieves your loved ones from the emotional burden of having to arrange your funeral when the time comes.

What are Funeral Director’s Fees?

Funeral Director’s Fees cover all the elements of the funeral that are provided by the Funeral Director directly. They include the provision of Funeral Director Services, provision of a hearse, supply of a coffin, care and preparation of the deceased, etc.

What are Disbursements?

Disbursements are the payments associated with the funeral that the Funeral Director makes on your behalf. They include the cremation or cemetery fee, Doctor’s fee and Minister’s fee.  No matter how much these costs rise by in the future, they are guaranteed to be provided at no extra cost to you or your next of kin, providing the funeral is carried out by the Funeral Director stated on your funeral plan certificate.

Is a burial plot included if I choose an Assist plan for burial?

Upto £1100.00 third party costs are included, be that for the cemetery burial or for the cremation.

Can I buy an Assist plan for someone else?

Yes, you can buy an Assist plan for someone else, and many of our customers have bought a plan for another family member.

Will I be asked questions about my health?

No, there are no health questions. Your Assist plan is guaranteed to be accepted.

Are the plans flexible?

Yes, you can add items to the plans for an extra cost.

What happens if I move house?

You can take your plan with you. Remember to let us know. If you let us know before the time of need there will be nothing additional to pay, but if this is done at the time of need a small fee will apply.

Can I specify personal requests for my Funeral?

Yes, you can make a record of any personal requests (e.g. hymns to be sung, etc.) and we will pass these on to the Funeral Director at the time of need.

Where is my money invested?

Your money is securely invested in the Assist Funeral Trust The funds in the Trust are held separately to the Company and managed by Independent Trustees to ensure your money is protected.

What happens if I change my mind, do I get a refund?

You have 30 days to cancel the plan in writing and receive a full refund of all monies paid. If you cancel the plan after 30 days a cancellation fee will apply.

Can I make changes to my plan after I have taken it out?

Yes, just contact us to make changes to your plan. If you wish to add extra services, additional costs may apply.
